    The santoor has once again fallen silent after the Santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma died on the 10th of May 2022. Due to cardiac arrest, he died at the age 84.

    Digital Desk: Since the last 24 hours, condolence tweets have been flooding in from all corners of the globe. Pandit Shiv Sharma Sharma put Santoor at the center stage of the world. Since the last six months, he was suffering from kidney-related problems and was currently on dialysis. He died from cardiac arrest.

    Pandit Shiv Sharma Sharma was a tabla player before he became a santoor maestro. Many people don't knew that the tabla used in the song "Mose Chhal Kiye Jaye Saiyan Beimaan", from the movie 'Guide" (1965) was played and played by Panjit Shiv Kumar Sharma. He demonstrated his proficiency in playing the tabla in that song.

    He made his first public appearance in Mumbai in 1955. His family was also a fan of music.  Pandit Shiv Sharma was the first musician to perform Indian classical music using a Santoor folk instrument.

    He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Academy Award, Padma Shri 1991, and Padma Vibhushan 2001. Manorama was his wife. He received two 'Platinum Discs'. One was for the Hindustani classical music album 'Call of the Valley', a romantic drama (1981), and the Chandni’(1989).
