Digital Desk: The Gauhati High Court said on Thursday that a detailed affidavit regarding the false encounters in Assam must be submitted.

Over the past few months, there have been several encounters reported across the state. These encounters, according to the complainants, are fake.

The state Home Department was asked to present a thorough affidavit in court today, but they were unable to.

This is why the court has mandated a thorough affidavit for the upcoming hearing on November 14th.

It is to be noted that Prashant Bhushan participated in today's session via video conference while he was in Delhi.

Notably, an advocate from New Delhi named Arif Jwadder has already filed the Gauhati High Court for a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to investigate the reportedly staged encounters by the Assam Police since May 2021.

It may be mentioned that over 80 encounters have occurred in Assam since the new government took charge in May of this year, the Guwahati advocate stated in the PIL.
