Digital Desk: The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center (NEMRC), Nepal, reports that two earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.7 and 5.3 occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in Nepal's Baglung district. According to the measurements from the epicenter, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Adhikari Chaur in the Baglung District at 01:23 (local time).
"An Earthquake of ml 4.7 occurred around Adhikari Chaur of Baglung District at 01:23 on 2079/09/13 NEMRC/DMG," NEMRC tweeted. According to NEMRC, the second earthquake, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, struck near Khunga in the Baglung District at 2:07 a.m. (local time).
The second tweet stated, "A ml 5.3 Earthquake occurred around Khunga of Baglung District at 02:07 on 2079/09/13 NEMRC/DMG." No losses of lives or property have been reported as of yet.
The tremors have made people in Joshimath, Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, even more, terrified than before. On December 24, people flocked to the streets as homes were sinking beneath the ground in many Joshimath neighborhoods. The walls are beginning to crack severely.
Locals claim that this has been happening for quite some time. There are significant cracks in 513 residences across 9 wards in Joshimath. Every day, news of house cracks is recorded from different Joshimath wards. People are terrified and worried about their safety. Joshimath's land is reportedly sinking as a result of the tunnel for the Tapovan Vishnugarh hydroelectric plant, which will be built there.
