World Water Day: All about “Accelerating Change”

Individuals, families, students, and communities are also encouraged to pledge to change how water is used, consumed, and managed on a daily basis.

Digital Desk: World Water Day is observed on March 22 to emphasize the importance of safe drinking water. United Nations-Water and its many members and partners, including the World Health Organization, organize World Water Day (WHO). World Water Day aims to support the achievement of Sustainable Water and Sanitation for All by 2030, in addition to highlighting the global water crisis. Individuals, families, students, and communities are also encouraged to pledge to change how water is used, consumed, and managed on a daily basis.

    World Water Day 2023 Theme

The theme of this year's World Water Day is "accelerating change." WHO claims that it is committing to "accelerating professionalised water supply and sanitation services through capacity building in regulation for dramatic improvements in water, sanitation, and hygiene in health care facilities" through the Water Action Agenda.

This year's UN 2023 Water Conference will be held in New York from March 22 to March 24. It is said to be the most important UN-hosted event on water supply, sanitation, and hygiene in more than 50 years. According to WHO, the conference's vision is to "better understand, value, and manage water, sanitation, and hygiene" and to take the necessary actions to achieve internationally agreed water, sanitation, and health-related goals and targets.

"It will result in a summary of proceedings from the UNGA President that will feed into the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) session in 2023," WHO stated.
