Although being single is absolutely OK, there is no need to believe that love won't find you...
Digital Desk: The New Year is knocking on our doors, and the holiday season has already begun. Holidays are extremely tough when you're single, and occasionally individuals start to feel despair and think that love isn't meant for them. Although being single is absolutely OK, there is no need to believe that love won't find you. Here are some tips on how to find love in 2023:
1. Identify your priorities
Here's some food for thought: No partner can meet your requirements if you don't know what they are in the first place. You might be looking for a long-term relationship, feel pressure to have your desi mom approve of your partner, or just want someone who enjoys the same flavour of ice cream as you. The key is that knowing what you want can save you from wasting time and effort on a relationship that might not be right for you.
2. An open mind = new possibilities
Yes, this is a cliche, and having an open mind is easier said than done. However, if you consistently think negatively about possibilities that come your way, you run the risk of passing on something valuable. An "open mind" creates room for a fresh outlook on life. Not to say you should toss your opinions out the window, but giving the 'perfect partner checklist' some wiggle room might not be such a bad idea.
3. If you act like a sheep, wolves will eat you
Situationships, explore-dating (a combination of "exploring" and "dating"), sober-dating, fast-forwarding... the list of relationship trends is limitless. Take some time to reflect on your genuine motivations before you join the urban-dictionary bandwagon. Is following the latest trend just a new strategy to escape the dreaded FOMO? It might be difficult around the holidays. It's difficult to resist the most handy alternative for avoiding being alone. It's important to keep in mind that the most recent relationship trend is just a temporary phase. The relationship will also vanish when it does.
4. Rest, recover, and repeat
The only way to find anything new is to first let go of the things (or people) that are holding you back. Slow down, be kind to yourself, and give yourself time to recover from your past experiences. Continue doing that until you're prepared to welcome a new person into your life. We suggest? Letting go of the past is the first step in finding a new relationship. You must pack lightly for new adventures.
5. Time is a myth
Some people find love at the age of 12 over a shared school tiffin, while others find love at the age of 62 in a mithai shop. Every experience, whether positive or negative, teaches us something new. It doesn't matter when it all happened. So, don't rush to find your true love. Enjoy the ride and take your time. After all, it's better to be alone than in a bad relationship!
