It allows you to express your love to your mother in a unique way. Mother's Day, honoured today (May 14), is intended to honour and commemorate a mother's unconditional love.

 Mother's Day is observed every year on the second Sunday of May in various nations. Mother's Day is being observed on May 14, 2023, this year. 

Mother's Day History

The Greeks and Romans used to hold festivals honouring mother goddesses like Rhea and Cybele in ancient times. These springtime ceremonies were dedicated to conception as well as childbirth. In the United States, abolitionist and feminist Julia Ward Howe issued the "Mother's Day Proclamation," urging women to band together for peace.

Anna Jarvis, an American social activist, founded Modern Mother's Day. After her mother died in 1905, she campaigned for a national holiday to honour mothers. She wished to establish a day for people to express their love and gratitude to their mothers. 

In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation designating the second Sunday of May as "Mother's Day." Mother's Day has now been embraced by several countries around the world.
