Digital Desk: The Bengaluru city police have filed a case against a cab driver for sending obscene messages to a female passenger who cancelled her cab ride before his arrival.

According to the police complaint, the incident occurred on Monday morning when the complainant ordered a cab using a taxi-hailing app to go with her one-year-old child from her apartment in Bengaluru's Electronic City.

After waiting for the cab for 10 minutes, she decided to cancel it and take an autorickshaw instead due to the driver's delay in arriving at the pickup location.

In retaliation for her cancellation, the cab driver swamped her WhatsApp with vulgar and indecent photos and videos. He persistently called her, asking her to check her WhatsApp, the woman said in her complaint.

The woman managed to board the autorickshaw and leave the location. She later reported the incident to Electronic City police.

An FIR has been filed against the driver under IPC Section 354A (outraging the modesty of a woman) and other relevant sections of the IT Act, police said.

According to preliminary investigations, the driver is currently in Tamil Nadu. The police launched a search operation in response.

They have also formally requested that the cab aggregator provide them with the essential information about the driver while the investigation progresses.
