Digital Desk: An unpleasant incident took place on the sixth day of Navratri celebrations, a 17-year-old boy died after having a sudden heart arrest while playing Garba in the Kapadvanj Kheda district.
Dr. Aayush Patel, MD Medicine, told news agency ANI, "A 17-year-old boy, Veer Shah, was playing Garba at the Garba ground in Kapadvanj when he complained of dizziness and became unresponsive." A team of volunteers on the scene rushed to his aid and began cardio-respiratory resuscitation. We checked his vital signs but detected no pulse. There was no response and no signs of breathing. Three rounds of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were administered to him. We transported him to the hospital by ambulance. He was, however, proclaimed dead at the hospital."
Ripal Shah, Veer's father, who was uninformed of the incident, was told of his son's death.
When tragedy struck, Ripal Shah and his wife were caught up in Navratri celebrations at a second Garba venue in Kapadwanj.
Veer's parents were in shock after learning of his death, said sources.
Between sobbing, an inconsolable Ripal Shah cautioned revellers, saying, "Be careful playing Garba, do not continue playing it without rest. I lost my child tonight and hope that no one else suffers the same tragedy."
The organisers paid tribute to Veer Shah by standing silent for two minutes at the site where he died.
Because of his death, the Garba, which was being held at the ground, was postponed.
Furthermore, in a show of solidarity, all Garba organisers in Kapadvanj and the adjacent districts cancelled all scheduled festive events for the day.
