Digital Desk: Valentine's Day is celebrated around the world on February 14, however in India, this day is known as a "dark day" or "Black Day" because of the horrible Pulwama Terror Attack. It was one of the bloodiest strikes on Indian security personnel to date, claiming the lives of 40 CRPF bravehearts.
Where on this day all over the world love is spread, India was in the misery of losing 40 CRPF bravehearts in the deadliest Pulwama Attack.
What Happened on this day four years back?
The Pulwama attack took place in 2019, therefore tomorrow marks the fourth anniversary of the terror attacks. Four years ago, on February 14, India came to a halt as news of the deaths of 40 CRPF officers hit our television screens.
In one of the biggest terror attacks, a Jaish-e-Mohammad suicide bomber smashed an explosives-laden car into a Central Reserve Police Force convoy (CRPF).
The situation that followed showed the destruction caused by the terror attack on the afternoon of February 14, 2019.
The burned body parts and shredded steel of an army truck transporting jawans were dispersed across the Jammu-Srinagar section of National Highway No 44, which runs through the Pulwama area of south Kashmir.
Soon after the incident, Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility, sharing a video of the perpetrator, 22-year-old Adil Ahmad Dar.
India's Reaction to the Pulwama Attack
A counter-terror airstrike was carried out by India's defence forces a few days after the horrific attack on its security personnel.
Several Indian Air Force jets targeted the Jaish terror camps in Balakot in the early hours of February 26, 2019, killing around 500 terrorists.
Following the airstrike at Balakot, the Pakistan Air Force attempted to respond by attacking Indian military installations in Jammu and Kashmir, however, the IAF prevented the attempt.
During the conflict, Pakistani forces shot down and seized India's Wing Commander Abhinanadan Varthaman.
It has been four years after the miseries of the Pulwama attack, but February 14 is still remembered as a "black day" in honour of the courageous CRPF personnel who were killed in the attack.
