Digital Desk: India on Tuesday brought back 559 people home as part of its mission to evacuate the stranded Indians from violence-hit Sudan.

While 231 Indians landed in Ahmedabad, 328 more were brought back to New Delhi.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted, "328 more passengers have landed in New Delhi. #OperationKaveri moving steadily forward as around 3000 have reached India now."
Earlier in the day, 231 passengers arrived in Ahmedabad.

"Another #OperationKaveri flight lands in Ahmedabad. 231 more passengers have reached home safely," Jaishankar wrote in another tweet.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi also revealed that a team of 20 Indians crossed through Chad over the nearby land border with Sudan.

Arindam Bagchi tweeted, "Our teams are facilitating their journey back home."

India brought back 186 people on Monday as part of an evacuation mission that began a week ago.

On Sunday, 229 Indians landed in Bengaluru, while 365 arrived in Delhi on Saturday.

As part of the rescue mission, 754 people landed in India in two batches on Friday.

The Indians were sent home from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where India had set up a transit camp for the evacuees.

The first batch of 360 evacuees flew back to New Delhi on a commercial flight on Wednesday.

A C17 Globemaster aircraft from the IAF carried the second batch of 246 Indian evacuees to Mumbai on Thursday.

As part of "Operation Kaveri," India has been transporting its citizens from trouble zones in Khartoum and other difficult places to Port Sudan, where they are then transferred to the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah by heavy-lift transport aircraft and ships of the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.

The Indians are being brought home from Jeddah through commercial flights or IAF aircraft.

Sudan has seen violent combat between the country's army and a paramilitary group, which has reportedly killed around 400 people.
