Digital Desk: The MP/MLA court has summoned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi once more in connection with a defamation case against Union Home Minister Amit Shah that dates back to 2018.
Initially, the court asked the Congress MP to appear on Saturday. Due to his failure to appear, a second summons was issued.
Advocate Santosh Pandey verified the summons, saying Gandhi must now appear in court on January 6.
Vijay Mishra, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), initiated the case.
Rahul Gandhi, who was previously convicted on criminal defamation charges for making derogatory remarks about the Modi community, although the verdict was later overturned, was previously summoned in the case.
Gandhi remarked at a news conference in 2018: "People in India forget that the president of the BJP is a murder suspect. That is the truth. The party that preaches honesty and decency has a president who has been accused of murder."

According to ANI, if Rahul Gandhi is proven guilty, he might face a two-year prison sentence. According to the allegation, Rahul Gandhi made the statement during the Karnataka election campaign.
"When the information came through social media and TV news channels, the then-district vice president of BJP Vijay Mishra filed a complaint," Pandey said in a statement.
"Three witnesses' statements were included in the complaint. If adequate evidence is found against him, he (Rahul Gandhi) faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison. Rahul Gandhi should appear in court and be granted bail. If he fails to appear, the court may take measures against him," he added.
