Digital Desk: Following his disqualification from the Lok Sabha, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been served with a notice to leave the government-allotted bungalow. Rahul was allocated a 5-bedroom bungalow at 12 Tughlak Lane in Lutyens' Delhi when he won his first Lok Sabha poll in 2004 from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.

This is not the first instance a Congress leader has been asked to leave a government-allocated bungalow. Earlier, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was compelled to abandon her official bungalow at Lodhi Estate in July 2020, after her security cover was reduced.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha Housing Committee's notice to Rahul Gandhi comes just hours after the former Congress president attacked the Centre over the Adani issue. "LIC's capital, to Adani! SBI's capital, to Adani! EPFO's capital too, to Adani! Why is the public's retirement money being invested in Adani's companies even after 'Modani' exposed?" tweeted Rahul.

"No inquiry, no response, Prime Minister Ji! Why is there so much fear?" he questioned in a tweet in Hindi.

Earlier, this year, Rahul Gandhi mentioned his official address while on his Bharat Jodo Yatra. The Congress leader has stated that he has never possessed a house. "There was an odd atmosphere in the home. I went to my mom and inquired about the incident. Ma informed me that we were going outside. I had previously assumed it to be our home. Then, for the first time, my mother informed me that the government actually owned the house and that we had to leave immediately," he said.

Disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha

Earlier this week, Rahul Gandhi was expelled from the Lok Sabha following his conviction in a 2019 defamation case brought against him over his remark about the "Modi surname." Rahul Gandhi questioned at a rally in Kolar, Karnataka, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, "How come all the thieves share the surname Modi?." Following his controversial statement, BJP MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi lodged a complaint against Gandhi.
