Digital Desk: The president of the PDP, Mehbooba Mufti stated on Monday that the Supreme Court's decision to reject the petition challenging the delimitation process in Jammu and Kashmir was irrelevant given that the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act and Article 370's repeal were still subject to legal challenges before the top court.
"We have always opposed the delimitation commission. The decision is irrelevant to us, Mehbooba told reporters here, 41 kilometres from Srinagar.
On Monday, the Supreme Court rejected an appeal that contested the government's choice to establish the delimitation committee for redrawn Jammu and Kashmir's legislative assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies.

"The SC is currently considering a challenge to the Reorganisation Act (the legal framework in which the delimitation process was carried out). How they (the SC) can rule on this petition since everything is still pending, she asked.
Delimitation, according to Mehbooba, was a "tactical manipulation operation before the elections. That is what they have done, turning the majority in favour of the BJP into a minority. We didn't even take part in the delimitation commission's talks."
Mehbooba responded that the courts were everyone in the nation's final option and last hope when asked if she still had faith in the legal system.
"In terms of the legal system, where will a poor individual go? Lower courts are hesitant to grant bail, according to (Chief) Justice D Y Chandrachud. How could they render (fair) judgments if a judge is frightened of setting bail? She stated.
"There was a moment when the then-prime minister Indira Gandhi was removed from office by a court decision. People no longer even receive bail from the courts," she added.
