Sudhir Sinha, a former IPS
officer and member of the Gujarat State Human Rights Commission, stated that a
missing person case is not treated as seriously as a murder case.
"Missing persons cases are
just as serious as murder cases." When a child goes missing, parents may
have to wait years for their child to be found. "Such cases are routinely
dismissed by the police system," he claimed.
According to Dr. Rajan
Priyadarshi, a former additional director general of police (DGP), the bulk of

"When I was posted as the SP
in Kheda district (Gujarat), there was a case where a daily wage labourer from
UP abducted a girl from a poor family and sold her in his home state." She
was employed as a farm labour there. "Although we were able to save her, a
large number of such cases go unsolved," claimed the former DGP.
