ED issues fresh summons to TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s sister-in-law after wrong notice calls her at midnight
The ED has not yet questioned Gambhir about this matter. Her prior interrogation by the CBI in the aforementioned matter.

Digital Desk: The sister-in-law of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, Maneka Gambhir has received a new summons from the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in a money laundering case after it was discovered that the agency "erroneously" issued her a notice for an appearance on Monday at 12:30 AM instead of 12:30 PM, according to official sources.

On September 10, agency representatives told Gambhir she couldn't leave the country because she needed to join an investigation into a purported coal scam. Instead, they sent her a summons to appear at the ED office in this city on Monday "at 12:30 AM."

She arrived at the ED office in the Salt Lake area at the hour specified on the summons, but because it was an incorrect date issued accidentally, she discovered the office was closed and left after taking some images, according to the sources.

According to the sources, the original summons' midnight hour was a "typographical error," and September 12 should have started at "12:30 PM."

Gambhir has now reportedly received a new summons to appear before the agency here at roughly 2:00 PM.

The ED has not yet questioned Gambhir about this matter. Her prior interrogation by the CBI in the aforementioned matter.

In August, the Calcutta High Court ordered the ED to examine Gambhir at its regional office in Kolkata rather than in Delhi and to hold off on using coercion until the next hearing date.

In connection with the alleged coal scam case, Gambhir had objected to an ED summons asking her to appear before it in Delhi on September 5. She requested the court to order the agency to allow her to appear before it in Kolkata, where she claimed to reside.

Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as well as his wife Rujira, have already been questioned by the ED in this issue.

It may be mentioned that Anup Majee is suspected of being the ringleader of a money laundering case tied to coal mining theft at Eastern Coalfield Limited's mines in Kunustoria and Kajora in and around Asansol in West Bengal. This case is being probed by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
