    AASU Chief Samujjal Bhattacharya reacts to Dibrugarh violence

    Digital Desk: The Chief Advisor of All Assam Students Union Samujjal Bhattacharya today condemned the barbaric act of the Assam police where a few members of the union were lathi-charged by the Assam police in the AASU Dibrugarh unit Office.





    He claims that the entire mishap happened due to fallacious order which was given by the government of Assam to the police.





    The police attacked the student union activists allegedly by entering the office premises on the guidelines of the Assam government.





    He further stated that barbaric acts upon the student union members will not be tolerated, he said,” every hit on the members of AASU by the Assam Police will be counted “.





    He strictly summons the government of Assam to properly investigate the incident, if not, there will be agitations all over Assam.

    The Dibrugarh and Tinsukia district has come to a standstill after a 24-hour long shutdown called by the All Assam Students Union  (AASU)





    Places like Dibrugarh, Moran, and Naharkatia have been particularly affected by the shutdown.





    Several AASU protestors burnt tyres and blocked roads at several places in protest at the National Highway No 37.





    The protestors today demanded that the arrested AASU members must be released unconditionally.





    Dibrugarh town wears a largely deserted look today with AASU protestors blocking roads and protesting at several points.





    Meanwhile, Police have made heavy security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident from happening.
