Digital Desk: The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), a banned terrorist group, published a confessional video purportedly showing one of its members spying on Sunday.
According to a video posted on YouTube, Manash Borgohain, also known as Mukut Axom, was arrested by ULFA-I leaders for 'breaching' the organization's Constitution.
After being apprehended, Mukut Axom admitted via video message that he had been dispatched by the state government of Assam to spy on ULFA-I. He disclosed that he has been employed by the Assam Police Special Branch since 2021 and that he is part of a mission to keep an eye on the operations of ULFA-I.
Mukut Axom stated in his confessional video, "I was employed by the Assam Police Special Branch as a sub-inspector since 2021. I have ID number IG8371963421. You will be able to recognize me as SB's sub-inspector with this ID number. Since my induction into the unique Branch in 2021, I have been actively involved in a unique assignment. I was instructed to work against ULFA-I and monitor the organization's operations through that objective. We were eventually able to win the organization's trust by persistent enactment and efforts to win over the group's members.”
“After that, in November, I became a member of ULFA-I. My goal was to enlist in ULFA-I. Before joining the group, there was no such brainwashing with this ideology. It was all part of the mission. Manab Chaliha and Digambar Pandey included me in the expedition, and GP Singh, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, and Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, the DGP in 2021, gave me instructions. After receiving full financial support, several additional young men and women, including me, were also enlisted for the mission. We chose to comply with the government's directives and carry out covert operations against ULFA-I after agreeing to their requests. We trained in Kahilipara, Guwahati, for the mission. Our main instruction focused on biometrics, or how to take down the ULFA-I system in any setting or circumstance”, confessed Mukut Axom.
As part of his mission, he claimed to have joined ULFA-I in November 2023. He also mentioned several people who guided and recruited him and others for this mission.
Additionally, Mukut Axom revealed the training they had received for the operation and the duties they were expected to carry out, which included demolishing ULFA-I's systems and portraying them unfavorably to other countries. He stated that he was on this operation with eight other people in addition to himself.
