Digital Desk: Assam's Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh stated the pivotal role of peace in driving economic growth fostering all-round development, enhancing quality of life, and alleviating poverty.

Declaring that "peace remains the sine qua non of economic growth, all-round development, quality of life, and poverty alleviation," DGP Singh reaffirmed the Assam Police's unwavering commitment to maintaining peace in the region.

Singh made these remarks in response to NITI Aayog praising Assam's efforts to reduce poverty. Recent data from NITI Aayog indicates that over the previous nine years, Assam has seen a notable decrease in the Poverty Headcount Ratio. The predicted Poverty Headcount Ratio in 2022–2023 was 14.47 percent, a sharp decline from the expected 36.97 percent in 2013–14.

DGP GP Singh stated the commitment of the police force to maintaining law and order in the state and preventing crimes that could obstruct economic growth.

"Every police officer is dedicated to maintaining the state's peaceful atmosphere on both a law and order basis and by stopping crimes that impede the state's economic development. Achieving our aims has been greatly aided by the Hon. CM's positive and explicit directions in that regard," Singh stated.
