Digital Desk: For the first time in tea auction history, the Gatoonga Tea Garden of Assam, which has registered the best averages in CTC tea in auctions for the past two years, got more than Rs 400 average in CTC tea in North India auctions.
Gatoonga Tea Estate, a subsidiary of B&A Limited, had an average bid of Rs 401.15 in the 2022-23 auctions. It topped the auctions in 2021-22 with an average of Rs 393.79.
B & A Limited, the main company of the B&A Group and a BSE-listed corporation, was formed in 1950 by the late Hemendra Prasad Barooah. It was founded in Assam in 1915 as the Barasali Tea Company. Since 1951, the garden has sold tea at auctions.
"We will undoubtedly strive to be the best." But our major priority is to make some delicious teas. "The position will come naturally," Dhruba Jyoti Dowerah, President (Tea) B&A Limited, told a state news channel.
The company comprises of nine gardens, including Gatoonga, and five facilities, producing around 7.5 million kg of tea each year.
It was priced at Rs 262.33 on average in 2018, Rs 241.84 in 2019, and Rs 328.57 in 2020.

The Gatoonga Garden only produces black tea and sells it on the domestic market.

The company claims that it has performed successfully despite the unfavourable conditions that have prevailed in the last two years as a result of the Covid-19 issue. According to the annual report, despite economic adversity and natural weaknesses, the company has increased sales and earnings and has been recognised by purchasers as a high-quality CTC tea producer.
