Digital Desk: The foundation stone for North East India's First Central Research Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy, complete with a 100-bed hospital, was ceremoniously laid on Sunday. The groundbreaking ceremony at Khamtighat, Mancotta in Dibrugarh was presided over by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
State Minister for Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprise Bimal Borah, State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, and Union Minister Rameshwar Teli all attended the event, which was arranged by the Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy in association with the Dibrugarh District Administration. AIDC Chairman Prashanta Phukan, MLAs, Satyajit Paul, the Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Ayush, and other prominent dignitaries were also present at the event.
The institute aims to transform the healthcare environment in the area and is slated to be constructed on a sizable 45-bigha plot of land.
The project, which is expected to cost ₹100 Crores, should be finished by 2026. The building is intended to serve as a center for yoga and naturopathy research as well as a cutting-edge hospital with 100 beds to meet the various healthcare needs of the community.
