Digital Desk: In a significant move aimed at improving governance efficiency and meeting the evolving demands of the state, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the establishment of four new districts during a cabinet briefing held on August 26. This proactive decision, which officially took effect on December 31st, marks a milestone in the reshaping of the regional landscape of Assam.

The newly formed districts—Hojai, Biswanath, Tamulpur, and Bajali—have been meticulously designed following a comprehensive delimitation process. CM Sarma emphasized that this strategic realignment was driven by the desire to streamline administration and ensure that public services are more accessible to the citizens of Assam.

The creation of these districts comes as a part of the Assam government's commitment to enhancing governance and responding to the changing needs of the state's population. By decentralizing administrative units, the government aims to bring governance closer to the people, making public services more efficient and responsive.
