Digital Desk: KADlien Innovations & Export Center, a Guwahati-based company, has successfully exported INR 15 lakh worth of dry Dalle chilli to Singapore.
The chilli export project was led by Mr. Dhiraj Kumar Sarma of Agro Yard, a local entrepreneur . The project was completed in two phases from Kolkata Air cargo port to Singapore.
The initial plan was to export directly from Guwahati Airport to Singapore, but due to the non-functionality of Guwahati Airport for international cargo, the consignment had to be sent to Kolkata for the shipment, which was airlifted following the route from Guwahati, Kolkata, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, and finally to Singapore.
A few months back, KADlien had initiated the first direct export from Guwahati with the support of APEDA and FIEO. The direct shipment was of fruits and vegetables from North East India, creating a historic moment of direct export from Guwahati Airport, Assam.
However, the non-functionality of the airport has created a lot of issues among local exporters from North East India, who are facing challenges in accessing the global market.
Dalle is a variety of chilli pepper primarily cultivated in Nepal and India (especially Sikkim, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong).
Its pungency ranges between 100,000 and 350,000 SHU (Scoville heat units), similar to the Habanero chilli pepper.
The Indian state of Sikkim received a Geographic Indication (GI) tag for the pepper, which signifies its unique quality and origin.
KADlien Innovations and Export Center, Guwahati, Assam, is a platform that aims to promote the export products from North East India and to provide support and guidance to the farmers and exporters.
Dr. A. K. Das, the founder of KADlien, said, “We would like to invite more and more people to join our platform and to avail our export service. We want to develop North East as an export hub and to showcase the rich diversity and potential of our region. We would also like to thank Spice Board Guwahati and Kolkata for their guidance and support in the critical time."
