SEBA: HSLC Science Paper Leak; CID to Investigate the Incident

The decision to probe was taken after the Board of Secondary Education abruptly cancelled the exam...

Digital Desk: On March 13 (Monday), GP Singh, the Director General of Police, stated that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will probe the paper leak incident for the Science subject of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC).

This comes after the Board of Secondary Education abruptly cancelled, SEBA and reportedly opted to postpone the HSLC Science examination yesterday, a day before the exam, after the question paper was allegedly leaked on social media.

GP Singh took to Twitter and stated, "Reference media reports of leakage of General Science (C3) question paper of HSLC examination scheduled for March 13th 2023 conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Assam - A criminal case has been registered and would be investigated by CID Assam. We would bring the culprits and conspirators to law."

The board has yet to announce the revised dates for the HSLC science examination.

Meanwhile, Ranoj Pegu, the Education Minister of Assam, took to Twitter to make a comment, "General Science examination of the ongoing HSLC examination scheduled for 13/03/2023 has been cancelled by SEBA because of media reports of leakage of the question paper. The next date will be announced in due course."

Previously, SEBA announced the cancellation of the English subject then followed by the Maths subject of the Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate or Assam HSLC Test 2023.

The SEBA decided to cancel the exam of the English subject then followed by the Maths subject after receiving reports of students engaging in unethical behaviour at Cachar's JR Gonirgram Higher Secondary examination centre.

The paper leak incident was recorded in the Cachar district, where the question paper went viral after 15 minutes after the commencement of the Mathematics exam, according to reports. A few Whatsapp screenshots of the leaked paper sets also went viral.
