Digital Desk: On Tuesday evening, Guwahati suffered damage from heavy nighttime rain and strong winds. The state-of-the-art traffic light posts installed at a cost of several crores of rupees were knocked down during the rain in Guwahati's Bhetapara location.

The Guwahati people were given the Integrated Traffic Control System, which was deployed last year in phases for better traffic control.

However, traffic lights were fitted at the city's main intersections with cameras to ensure effective traffic control.

Informing you about the weather, Sanjay Shaw, Scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati, stated that the IMD is expecting partly overcast skies with the risk of thunder/lightning from April 19-20. "With this development, the maximum temperature is likely to settle around 36°C to 37°C and the minimum temperature at 22°C to 23°C," RMC scientist Sanjay Shaw further stated.

In a report from the weather forecast for the next 24 hours, "light rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, and the maximum temperature is very likely to be 3 to 4°C above normal in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura."

Thunderstorms with lightning are extremely likely to occur in isolated areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya in the next 24 hours, says the National Weather Department.

The weather department's forecast for Guwahati and surrounding areas is "partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower." The maximum and lowest temperatures are expected to be 34°C and 24°C, respectively."
