Assam: Singer Zubeen Garg triggers controversy; Calls AJP, a 'Fotua Party'
Garg called the party as "fotua" (nonsensical) while attending a party, and now the party's members are criticising him for his remarks.

Digital Desk: Singer Zubeen Garg has landed himself into fresh controversy after he remarked on a state regional party, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP).

Garg called the party as "fotua" (nonsensical) while attending a party, and now the party's members are criticising him for his remarks.

The singer stated, "I am a social leftist. I don't support the BJP, Congress, AGP, or the new Fotua party, AJP.  I work for the people, not for any political parties.”

After stating that, he told reporters, "AJP is a fotua party. They started a political party after participating with me in the CAA andolan.

Meanwhile, Party President Lurinjyoti Gogoi talking to media said, " Assam Jatiya Parishad is concerned about the people of the state and our main aim is to work for the people. We are not asking for anyone's certificate. Only the people of  Assam will decide whether we are working for good or bad. They are the witness of who has become the dalal of political party and who is actually working for them. At a time when there is a lot of problems in the state like price hike, palm oil cultivation which can affect the state so badly, money for job scam, rise of toll gate, and GST, why this kind of comment is made is totally clueless. Assam is a cultural state and everyone should know what kind of words can be used publically."

Moreover, Dulu Ahmed, vice president of the AJP, attacked Zubeen in the meantime, calling him a political dalal artist who does not have any right to comment on their party in an inebriated state.

I think the BJP is beginning to fear our party, hence I feel that they are starting to pay opportunistic and dalal artists like Zubeen Garg to speak negatively about our party, said Ahmed.

Ahmed wrote on social media shortly after Garg's remark was broadcast on a news channel, "Mr. Zubeen Garg, I have never witnessed 420 and opportunist artist like you. Despite the fact that you are money, you are still a person. A prominent cultural and political figure like you has no business getting wasted and criticising our party. The people of Assam witnessed your double face during the CAA andolan. Please let the public know how much the chief minister paid you to speak negatively about our party. We recognise that dalal artists like you will continue to babble for only two rupees."
