Domestic help registration to be made mandatory in Assam: CM Himanta
Speaking in the state assembly, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a new law will be introduced by the government.

Digital Desk: Assam government is planning to bring a law for domestic help. Speaking in the state assembly, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a new law will be introduced by the government.

Adding to his statement, he said, "It is observed that many Adivasi people and people from tea gardens are engaged as domestic workers. We will bring a law whereby registration, health, and education will be mandatory for domestic help."

CM stated, "In my opinion, separating a child under the age of 14 from their parents is trafficking in and of itself. One must realise that human trafficking is not only when a child is taken outside of the state but also when a child is moved from one place to another within the state."
