Desk: In a tragic instance, a woman in the Assam
Tinsukia district committed suicide on Sunday over dowry-related issues within
her husband's home.
The deceased has reportedly been identified as Pompi, and sources
claim that she was under pressure from her in-laws to give them a bed as dowry.
Pompi's spouse informed the authorities that she had hanged
herself in his Doomdooma home.
But Shyam or his family departed by shutting the door to their
home instead of informing Pompi's family about the incident.
Locals and family members asserted that it was not a suicide but a
deliberate homicide.
Pompi's family has filed a FIR against Shyam's family.
The police have launched an inquiry in line with the FIR filed and
have apprehended Shyam Deka.
Notably, Pompi and Shyam Deka wed on August 15, 2020, however it's been
claimed that soon after their union, her spouse and in-laws allegedly started
torturing her for dowry.
As she was being coerced by her in-laws, Pompi's father, who works in
Chennai, started saving money for a bed to gift them as dowry.
