Ranji Trophy 2022-23: Prithvi Shaw reacts to Jay Shah's congratulatory tweet on batter's record-breaking score
The second-highest individual score ever registered by a batsman in the annals of the top domestic competition is that of Prithvi, who amassed 379 runs in total.

Digital Desk: In the 2022–23 Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Assam, young Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw was in fantastic form for his state side. The 23-year-old made history by scoring an incredible 379 runs during the Elite Group B match that is now taking place at the Amingaon Cricket Ground in Guwahati. Throughout his time at the crease, the right-handed batter, who faced 383 total balls, smashed 49 fours and four sixes.

The second-highest individual score ever registered by a batsman in the annals of the top domestic competition is that of Prithvi, who amassed 379 runs in total. During the 1990–91 season, Sanjay Manjrekar set a record that stood for 32 years: 377 runs. He broke it.

In the previous four games, Prithvi had struggled to score significant runs, but in Guwahati, he returned to form with an outstanding century.
Since his T20I debut against Sri Lanka on July 25, 2021, in Colombo, Prithvi has not competed for India. He hasn't been chosen for the Indian squad since despite his regular performances in domestic and franchise cricket.

During his time at the crease on Wednesday, Shaw broke several records for batsmen, and many past greats, admirers, and experts praised the Mumbai native for his outstanding performance. Among the praise was a tweet from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah expressing his admiration for the youngster's impressive performance.

"Another entry into the record books! What an extraordinary inning @PrithviShaw! Congratulations on hitting the second-highest Ranji Trophy score of all time. A talent with immense potential. Super proud! @BCCIdomestic." Shah Tweeted.

Responding to the Tweet Prithvi said, "Thank you so much @JayShah sir. Your words of encouragement means a lot. Will keep working hard." His reply to Shah’s praise has now gone viral on the social media platform.

With his amazing 379 runs against Assam, Shaw has once again boosted his bid for selection in the Indian national squad. In January 2023, India is scheduled to play New Zealand in a limited-overs series. The following month, India will play Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy match.
