Digital desk: After Riyan Parag's team defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by six wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match, all-rounder Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a touching moment with his mother. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) eased to their third consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with a six-wicket against the five-time champions on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium thanks to a parag blitzkrieg that left the Mumbai Indians (MI) bewildered.

In a video posted by the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of his team, Parag was seen sharing a hug with his mother, after which she lovingly placed Parag's Orange Cap for most runs on his head. "No one loves you like your mom does," captioned and tweeted the official handle of RR.

Riyan's IPL 2024 transformation has been outstanding. After years of failing to perform down the order as a finisher, He has been promoted to bat at number four. The young all-rounder faced trolling on social media for his performances in previous seasons but has shut them all down with his attacking intent and maturity.

Riyan has scored 181 runs at an average of 181.00 and a strike rate of over 160 in three games, including two half-centuries. 84* is his greatest score. He has scored 181 runs in three matches at an average of 90.50 with a strike rate of over 141, tying Indian and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli for the most runs in the 2024 Indian Premier League. He has also scored two half-centuries, with the best score of 83*.

Parag scored 78 runs in seven innings during the previous IPL season. His totals in the IPL 2022 were 183 runs in 14 innings. He scored 93 runs in 10 innings in 2021. When compared to his Assamese domestic cricket records, which showcase a more versatile side to his game, these figures seem incredibly lackluster.

Parag scored 378 runs in six innings at an average of 75.6 in four Ranji Trophy 2023–24 matches, including two hundred and a fifty. His highest rating was 155.

In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 competition, Parag also led Assam to the semifinals. With 510 runs at an average of 85 and seven half-centuries, he finished as the tournament's top run scorer. He also took 11 wickets.

Playing for East Zone, Parag finished as the top run scorer in the 50-over Deodhar Trophy last year, helping his team to the championship. Parag scored 354 runs at an average of 88.50 with a strike rate of over 136 in five games and five innings. He ended with two hundred and a fifty. Most of his runs came while his team was under pressure, and he frequently found himself driving his team when they were losing early wickets or had collapsed. In the competition, he won the title of "Player of the Tournament."

Coming to the game, RR chose to bowl first after winning the toss. In the powerplay, Trent Boult (3/22) devastated the MI top-order, bringing them down to 20/4. Before MI suffered another collapse to finish at 125/9 in 20 overs, a 56-run partnership between captain Hardik Pandya (34 in 21 balls, with six fours) and Tilak Varma (32 in 29 balls, with two sixes) momentarily restored some order to the innings.

MI's batting order was constantly shaken by Yuzvendra Chahal (3/11) and Nandre Burger (2/32) as they bowled brilliantly for RR and never gave them a chance to relax.

RR lost their opening pair of Jos Buttler (13), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) in the run chase, and skipper Sanju Samson only scored 12 off of 10 balls. With 48/3 left, they were in a precarious position. With 27 balls remaining, Riyan Parag pulled off another remarkable comeback, hitting 54* in 39 balls, including three sixes and five fours, to lead his team to a six-wicket victory.

For MI, Akash Madhwal (3/20) was the best bowler. 'Player of the Match' went to Boult.

With three wins in three games and a total of six points, Rajasthan leads the points table. Mumbai, on the other side, has lost each of their first three games and is at bottom.
