King Kohli becomes the first cricketer to reach 50 million Twitter followers
Virat Kohli recently became the first cricketer to have 50 million Twitter followers in addition to setting records on the field.

Digital Desk: The previous three years have not been successful for India's star batter, Virat Kohli. On the cricket pitch, he has consistently performed below average due to form issues. Despite all the criticism, he is still a social media superstar.

As of right now, Kohli is the first cricketer to have 50 million Twitter followers.

The 33-year-old, who ranks third in terms of athlete popularity on Instagram behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo (476 million followers combined), is the most followed cricket player in the world (356 million).

In addition, Kohli has more than 49 million Facebook admirers, taking his total number of social media followers to more than 310 million.

Kohli returned to form during the just concluded Asia Cup 2022, finishing as India's leading scorer and the competition's second-highest run-getter with two fifties and a century.

Kohli has got the monkey off his back and celebrated his 71st century in style, ending a 1020-day wait since his last century in November 2019.

Kohli claimed before the Asia Cup that he hadn't touched his bat in a month.

The Indian team will be relieved that Kohli's first T20I century occurred before the T20 World Cup, which will be staged later this year in Australia.

He'll be back in action on September 20 when India hosts Australia in the opener of a three-match T20I series.

Kohli is known for his exceptional passion and enthusiasm on the field. Under his leadership, India has constantly emerged as one of the most aggressive teams.
