One of India's best captains, Ganguly, is still well known for his contributions to the country's cricket team. After taking over the team in 2000, when the match-fixing scandal rocked Indian cricket and the rest of the world, Ganguly led the team into a new era and introduced match-winners like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, and Zaheer Khan.

After a 16-year career and over 18,500 runs scored internationally, Ganguly retired in 2008. He ranks fourth among Indian players in ODIs, behind Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma in terms of the number of centuries they have scored. With victories over the then-dominant Australians, Indian cricket reached incredible heights while he served as captain.
