PM Modi also emphasized the importance of startups in creating jobs, saying, "Today, crores of people are working in MSMEs and small industries, which a large number of youth have joined in recent years."

Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today, hailing the government's  Emergency Credit Line Gurantee Scheme (ECLGS), launched post-Covid for ailing MSMEs, said that around 1.5 crore jobs were saved due to the credit support, 

"Approximately 1.5 crore jobs were saved during the Corona pandemic after the central government provided more than Rs 3 lakh crore to MSMEs," PM Modi said on Saturday after launching the Rozgar Mela and distributing government job appointment letters to 75,000 candidates.

PM Modi also emphasized the importance of startups in creating jobs, saying, "Today, crores of people are working in MSMEs and small industries, which a large number of youth have joined in recent years."

"In 2014, there were only a few hundred startups in the country; now, there are more than 80,000." During this time, our young colleagues launched a slew of businesses worth tens of thousands of crores of rupees. Thousands of young people work in the country's thousands of startups today," Modi added.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government's Mudra scheme, which allows for a credit of up to Rs. 10 lakh for the establishment of micro-enterprises, which are typically proprietary concerns at the bottom of the entrepreneurial pyramid.

PM Modi said that Rs. 20 lakh crore Mudra loans have been given so far and out of the total Mudra beneficiaries, over 7.5 crore people have started their businesses for the first time. Also, around 70 percent of the beneficiaries are women. “Such a big program related to self-employment has never been implemented in the country before," he added.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the government's skilling initiative, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, to help SMEs, agriculture, and the private sector, which are the largest job creators in the country. "The Skill India campaign has so far trained over 1.25 crore youth." In this regard, skill development centres have been established across the country. In these eight years, the central government has also established hundreds of new higher education institutions," he added.
