"Lord Ram never leaves anyone behind or turns his back on anyone," Modi added.

Digital Desk: On the eve of Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the historic Deepotsav celebrations in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on Sunday. He also performed an 'aarti' at the New Ghat on the Saryu River in Ayodhya.

Modi addressed a crowd on the occasion of Deepotsav, beginning his speech with 'Jai Shri Ram.' "From Lord Ram's holy birthplace, I send Diwali greetings to my countrymen," Modi said.

"Lord Ram never leaves anyone behind or turns his back on anyone," Modi added.

Earlier, today, Modi offered prayers to Ram Lalla at Ram Janmbhoomi in Ayodhya. This is Modi's first visit to Ayodhya after a "bhoomi pujan" for the construction of a Ram temple on August 5, 2020.

"I got to see Lord Ram because of his blessings; happy that people all over the world are watching Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya," Modi said.

The Prime Minister went to the makeshift Ram temple and offered prayers to Ram Lalla as soon as he arrived in Ayodhya for the Deepotsav celebrations. He lit an earthen lamp and performed an "aarti" there. Acharya Satyendra Das, the temple's chief priest, applied vermillion to his brow.
