Digital Desk: A fire official in Maharashtra reported that on Tuesday, sixteen people fell ill as a result of inhaling chlorine gas that had leaked into a public pool in the Pimpri-Chinchwad neighbourhood of Pune.

Around 9 am, the gas leaked from a cylinder at a community pool in the Kasarwadi region, the official reported.

He asserted that firefighters capped the container and dropped it into the pool so the gas might disperse in the water.

"We evacuated people while cordoning off the area. At least 16 swimmers breathed the gas and were transported to a government-run hospital for treatment, the officer said, adding that some lifeguards were also harmed."

A civic official reported that those who inhaled chlorine gas experienced nausea and coughing, but added that their conditions were stable.
