Digital Desk: In a tragic incident, an elderly man hailing from Goalpara district of Assam allegedly lost his life as a result of the severe cold weather conditions, reports said on Saturday.
As per sources, the deceased, was identified as Boyat Ali (55). He was a resident of the evicted Pancharatna NC village in Goalpara.
Following the eviction, as many as 50 families, including Boyat Ali's, were left homeless after illegally encroaching on the Pancharatna Reserve Forest area.
Living without a roof over their heads, Boyat Ali's family, like others faced the harsh winter conditions.
Reportedly, the extreme cold proved fatal for Boyat Ali. This heartbreaking incident sheds light on the human cost of eviction drives, emphasizing the urgent need for comprehensive support and resettlement plans for displaced families in such situations.
