According to the police, "the situation in the state was tense over the past 24 hours with sporadic incidents of firing and gathering of protestors."

Digital Desk: On Tuesday morning, new incidents of violence were reported in the border region between the Meitei- and Kuki-dominated Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts of Manipur, resulting in at least two fatalities and seven injuries.

According to reports, firing took place between armed miscreants from the two communities in the neighbouring villages of Naranseina in the Bishnupur district.

A bomb burst during the battle, killing Jangminlun Gangte, a volunteer for the Kuki village defence, and Laibujam Inao (Meitei), who died from his wounds while being treated at an Imphal hospital after being shot during the attack.

According to the police, "the situation in the state was tense over the past 24 hours with sporadic incidents of firing and gathering of protestors."

Meanwhile, during search operations in the districts of Bishnupur and Thoubal, the Manipur Police found a gun, 20 ammunition, and seven explosives.

It should be noted that the most recent attack brought the total number of fatalities to 192.
