Digital Desk: Bodies of two infants were found at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati on Thursday, creating a horrifying tragedy that sent shockwaves across the town.
The two babies, thought to be between five and six months old, have been reported to have left their bodies near Lachit Ghat in Guwahati.
Authorities from the Bharalumuk Police Station allegedly found the bodies close to a pit that had been excavated at Lachit Ghat.
It is to be noted that officials said that they suspect the pits were dug to bury the bodies, however, the bodies were left beside the pits.
One of the deceased infants was a boy, the other a girl. Who is responsible for this startling incident is unknown. According to police officials, they saw the dead body lying at Lachit Ghat during the evening.
Meanwhile, Bharalumukh Police in Guwahati has taken suo-moto note of the matter and launched an investigation into the bombshell.
According to the preliminary inquiry, the killings occurred early in the day, and the bodies were subsequently left near Lachit Ghat.
It may be mentioned that further investigation into the matter is underway.
