At the time of the suspected gas leak on Wednesday at around 1 pm, there were about 2,000 workers inside the factory.

Digital Desk: A poisonous gas leak in a chemical facility close to Jambusar in Gujarat's Bharuch district on Wednesday resulted in at least 28 patients being rushed to the hospital, officials said.

According to Bharuch Resident Additional Collector NR Dhandhal, the injured people complained of breathing difficulties after inhaling bromine gas that leaked caused by a fire that started in a tank at PI Industries in the district's Sarod village.

At the time of the suspected gas leak on Wednesday at around 1 pm, there were about 2,000 workers inside the factory. Vaishali Ahir, a sub-inspector at the Vedach police station, reported that everyone was safely evacuated.

"The employees who were near the tank reported health issues and were sent to the hospital. Leakage has been under control,"  she claimed.
