When the fire started while they were sleeping, Sangeeta and her five children got trapped inside the house.

Digital Desk: Police said on Thursday that a 38-year-old woman and her five children, who ranged in age from one to ten, died in a fire that started at their home.

They claimed that the incident occurred late on Wednesday night in the village of Urdha.

When the fire started while they were sleeping, Sangeeta and her five children got trapped inside the house. After learning about the occurrence, a fire brigade team went to the scene, doused the flames, and removed the six family members who had already passed away, according to the police.

Sangeeta's children who died in the fire were identified as Babu (1), Geeta (2), Rita (3), Laxmina (9) and Ankit (10).

According to an official, the fire reportedly seems to have been caused by a short circuit, and within a short period, the LPG cylinder that was kept inside the house also caught fire and exploded.

The wife and her five children were sleeping inside the house at the time of the tragedy, while the husband, his father, and his mother were asleep outside.

The husband was unable to save his family when the fire, which was initially discovered in the tin shed, quickly spread to the entire house, according to the police.

Sangeeta's husband, his parents, and the nearby residents rushed to save her and the kids after hearing the explosion, but they perished from burns.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed grief over the disaster and gave the district representatives instructions to launch immediate relief and rescue efforts. A 4 lakh rupee ex-gratia for each of the deceased has also been announced by him.

The fire was so large, according to DM Ramesh Ranjan, who went to the scene, that nobody could be saved inside the house.
At first glance, it seems that the fire was caused by a short circuit and that the gas cylinder in the house then burst. However, he added, an investigation is ongoing to determine what started the incident.

"The administration is offering the victims every bit of assistance and is by their sides during this trying moment. For each of the deceased, the chief minister has announced a sum of Rs 4 lakh, the DM informed reporters.
