These operations underscore the ongoing efforts to combat illegal animal trade in the region...

Digital Desk: In a significant operation, Assam police rescued 47 dogs from smugglers in Golaghat district. Reports indicate that 22 dogs were recovered on May 29, followed by another 25 on May 31. Five smugglers have been arrested, and three vehicles seized in connection with the incident.

Earlier in May, NGOs in Barak Valley helped rescue 14 dogs from smugglers in Cachar district. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta reported that these dogs were found in Ramnagar near the ISBT, leading to the detention of two suspects.

Initial investigations suggest that the dogs were rescued from various locations in the valley, likely destined for Mizoram. These operations underscore the ongoing efforts to combat illegal animal trade in the region.
