Digital Desk: The recent price hike of Rs 5.50 per liter in the cost of milk has stirred concerns among consumers in Guwahati and its surrounding areas. The Brihattar Guwahati Gau-Palak Sanstha (BGGS) has announced the increase, pushing the wholesale price to Rs 62 per liter from the previous Rs 56.50. This decision is anticipated to have a ripple effect on retail prices, with estimates projecting a surge to Rs 75.80 per liter from the earlier Rs 65.70.

Despite the BGGS's stance, the sellers' association has voiced discontent, citing the abrupt adjustment in rates. However, the BGGS remains resolute in its decision and is prepared to cease supplying wholesalers if their demands are not met. Instead, they plan to circumvent wholesalers altogether and directly market their milk.

As consumers brace for the impact on their wallets, the unfolding scenario underscores the intricate dynamics between producers, distributors, and consumers in the dairy industry.
