Digital Desk: In a tragic incident, five Army personnel were killed and six others injured in a terrorist attack on a military convoy in the remote Machedi area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district on Monday afternoon. The convoy, on a routine patrol along the Machedi-Kindli-Malhar road, came under attack approximately 150 km from Kathua.

According to officials, the terrorists initiated the attack by throwing a grenade followed by gunfire. In response, security forces retaliated, prompting the terrorists to flee into nearby forests. Intermittent firing continued between the terrorists and security forces thereafter.

The injured soldiers were swiftly evacuated and transferred to a hospital for medical treatment. Reinforcements were promptly dispatched to the area, initiating a comprehensive search operation to apprehend the perpetrators.

This incident marks the second attack on the Indian Army in the Jammu region within 48 hours, highlighting the persistent security challenges faced in the region. Political leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge have strongly condemned the attack, emphasizing the need for decisive action against such acts of terrorism rather than mere rhetoric.

The nation mourns the loss of these brave soldiers and stands united in support of their families and colleagues during this difficult time.
