In the recently held Assembly elections, the BJP secured a majority of 32 seats in the 60-member state Assembly. The results were announced on March 10.


Digital Desk: Five Janata Dal (United) MLAs from Manipur who had previously united with the BJP formally joined the party on Sunday.

These five MLAs—Kh. Joykishan Singh, Ngursanglur Sanate, Md. Achab Uddin, Thangjam Arunkumar, and L.M. Khaute—reportedly joined the BJP in New Delhi while the party's president, JP Nadda, was there.

The Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat announced on Friday that a total of five JD(U) MLAs had joined the governing BJP.

According to the statement, the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker is glad to approve the union of five JD (U) MLAs with the BJP under the Constitution's tenth schedule.

Rajiv Ranjan Lalan Singh, the leader of the JD (U), claimed on Saturday that the BJP financed the merger.

Singh stated that JD (U) will become a national party by 2023 despite the BJP's attempts.
