Digital Desk: At least six people were killed after an explosion erupted inside the house of a firecracker businessman in the Khudai Bagh area of Saran district in Bihar on Sunday.

The businessman has been identified as Shabir Hussain. According to reports, after the explosion, the remaining half of the house was in flames and part of it was blown up.

According to the police, a large portion of the house crashed into a river as it was situated on the banks of the river.

Eight people trapped behind the debris were also rescued and rushed to the nearby hospital.

It should be noted that the village is around 30 kilometres from Chhapra, the district administrative centre.

Santosh Kumar, the superintendent of police (SP) of Saran, said six deaths were reported following the collapse of a house in Chhapra due to an explosion. Rescue operations have been initiated for the people trapped under the debris. The cause of the explosion is being investigated. Bomb disposal and the forensic teams have also been informed.

Additionally, according to the police, firecrackers were being made in the home when the explosion occurred, and bursts could be continuously heard for an hour later.
