Digital Desk: At least 8 people were killed and around 20 others were injured after a Delhi-bound double-decker bus rammed into a stationary double-decker bus on Uttar Pradesh’s Purvanchal expressway on Monday morning.
According to reports, the injured were rushed to the CHC Haidergarh Community Health Center for treatment.
Three of the injured are said to be in critical condition and have been taken to the Lucknow Trauma Center for treatment.
The incident occurred when a bus collided head-on with another bus in the area of the Narendrapur Madraha police station in Loniktra village. Both buses were travelling from Bihar to Delhi.
According to Manoj Pandey, additional superintendent of police (ASP) in Barabanki, the bus travelling from Sitamarhi in Bihar struck the parked bus from behind close to the village of Narendrapur Madraha. The ASP stated that measures are being taken to identify the deceased and that the injured have been taken to a nearby hospital, where the badly injured are then sent to a trauma centre in Lucknow.
The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, expressed his sorrow over the deaths caused by the accident on Twitter after it occurred and ordered officials to ensure the injured were treated properly. He wrote, "The loss of life in a road accident on Purvanchal Expressway is extremely sad. Instructions have been given to the concerned officers to conduct relief and rescue operations expeditiously and provide proper treatment to the injured. May Lord Shri Ram provide peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured."
Moreover, the Barabanki SP, Anurag Vats, reacted to the tragic event: "In Purvanchal expressway accident, 8 died while 16 injured. Minor injuries are treated at CHC, while individuals with severe injuries are transported to the trauma centre. ongoing post-mortem examinations of the deceased. Further research is being done."
