She became the first contestant from India to reach the finals of this prestigious global competition

Digital Desk :  Binita Chettri, a 9-year-old from Talbalijan village in Bokajan, Assam, has made history by becoming the first-ever Indian finalist and second runner-up at Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) 2025. Performing on the global stage in the UK on 31st May, she represented the Gorkha community and the Indian subcontinent with ease and grace. 

Despite her tender age, Binita impressed everyone with her well-known dance and choreography, and she also received standing ovations throughout the season. Earlier, before one of her performances, she shared that if she wins, she would use it to buy a pink princess house
Binita’s journey was made possible by her father Amar Chettri, a broiler farmer, and her aunt Amrita Devi, a well-known dancer and choreographer. Hardik Rawat, Binita received her training in Guwahati and Jaipur. 

She reached the finals through public votes,  despite not receiving a golden buzzer in the semis.
British magician Harry Moulding from the UK won Britain’s Got Talent 2025  with the LED group. While,  The Blackouts secured the second place. Many supporters, especially journalist Nanda Kirati Dewan,  believed that global voting could have helped Binita succeed. Over 20,000 missed calls were received from fans in India before the finale.

Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and industrialist Anand Mahindra praised Binita and called her as a “world-class talent” for her work. She took to social media on BGT to show her appreciation and express her desire to meet Himanta Das in Guwahati.

The ₹5 lakh support from KAAC and the assistance from Dr. Numal Momin enabled her to go from her small town Talbalijan in Bokajan to the global arena is an inspiring story of talent, hard work, and unwavering belief.
