Sanjay had told his parents that he wanted to move to a different school since he was worried about the homeworks. His parents, however, turned down his requests.

Digital Desk: A 14-year-old boy in Tamil Nadu's Thiruvarur district set himself on fire to commit suicide. After his parents rejected his plea to transfer to a different school, he took the drastic action. The incident happened on August 22's morning, a Monday.

Sanjay, the student in Class 9, hails from Peralam in the Thiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu.

In Peralam, Sanjay attended a private school. According to reports, Sanjay received written assignments from the classroom. Sanjay had told his parents that he wanted to move to a different school since he was worried about the homeworks. His parents, however, turned down his requests.

This made Sanjay feel even more pressured, so on the morning of August 22, he doused himself in gasoline and set himself at home. His parents hurried upstairs when they heard him screaming. At the Tiruvarur Government Medical College Hospital, he was saved and given a bed.

But on August 23, the boy passed away without benefiting from the medication. The incident has been reported to the Peralam Police, who are currently looking into it.
