Following Musk's statement, Tesla began firing paid staff members, which would reduce the company's overall headcount by by 3.5 percent.

Digital Desk: Tesla, owned by Elon Musk, reportedly locked a California office and showed departure doors to about 200 members of the Autopilot team.

According to Bloomberg, the bulk of individuals fired were hourly employees, according to the persons who sought to remain anonymous because they were disclosing private information.

According to the story, Musk had just last week announced plans to increase the number of hourly positions while reducing the number of paid positions by 10%.

Following Musk's statement, Tesla began firing paid staff members, which would reduce the company's overall headcount by by 3.5 percent.

According to a recent statistic, Tesla employs over 100,000 workers across all of its sites.

Iain Abshier said on LinkedIn that learning he will be let go by Tesla after just two weeks of employment hit him like "a gut punch."

Robert Belovodskij, a second sacked Tesla employee, tweeted that he had been notified that the offer he had signed to return to Tesla full-time had been "rescinded owing to the current hiring freeze and 10% staff reduction."
