Last year, the Kerala Assembly consistently passed a declaration protesting airport privatisation. The Central Government and the AAI had gone forward to lease out the airport to the Adani Group. They have ignored the Kerala Government's complaints.

Therefore, the State Government and Airport Authority Employees Union filed a case aginst the takeover. They are against handing over of the airport to Adani Group. Also, the Airports Authority of India staff is provided with a transfer option.
