Digital Desk: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra disclosed on Friday that Gautam Adani, the Chairperson of the Adani Group, had approached her on two occasions within the past three years through intermediaries, alleged to be Lok Sabha MPs. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Moitra detailed the encounters, which she believes were attempts to bribe her into not questioning the Adani Group's actions.
Moitra stated, "Mr. Adani has approached me via two Lok Sabha MPs in the last three years to sit across the table with him and work out a deal I have refused. The issue is, he was giving cash to not question." She went on to clarify that she had never met Adani in person and was uncertain of the exact terms of the alleged deals.
These revelations come in the midst of the ongoing cash-for-query controversy surrounding Moitra. She firmly asserted that she had declined the offers presented by Adani.
Moitra further claimed that last week, she was once again approached, this time with a message advising her to "keep quiet" until the upcoming elections were concluded. She asserted, "Even if you want to attack Adani, you can do it slightly, but just don't take the Prime Minister's name."
The allegations have ignited a fresh debate on corporate influence in Indian politics and are sure to raise questions about the ethics of such interactions between politicians and business leaders.
